Nothing like Central Texas BBQ and this is a great place to get it. Benny provided food for 20 of our Texan relatives, everything was excellent. Perfect smoke flavor on very tender meat. Portions were just right, sides were fantastic. Easy to order in advance and he followed up to make certain we were happy.

Heading home out of Austin, I knew that my last chance for some good Texas barbecue was going to be on this drive. I had a pamphlet for a barbecue route from the Texas welcome station on the border, and looked through that to find something. The place that it mentioned in the Cedar Creek area seemed appropriate, so I tried to find it... and only found it an hour later after I had eaten at Benny's! So much for good directions!
It didn't matter though, because Benny's fit my bill exactly... actually, it fit what I wanted better than what I saw of that other place! I wanted a place where you could smell the smoke, where the locals go for their lunches on a regular basis, not a place that caters to tourists. That is what I found at Benny's... a place that the locals hit up for a tasty lunch, where everyone knows everyone else.
Yeah, there isn't that much to look at... but that is just fine. There are places to sit, you get to breath that good Texas air, and you get to chow down on beautifully cooked food. You order through a window, and if it isn't that busy they bring the food out to you on a metal tray.
I got the sliced brisket platter with spicy corn and potato salad. I wish they had baked beans, because those and some fries are my perfect side choice, but alas they do things a bit differently. No matter, it was all good! I realize now looking at the menu that I should have tried the banana pudding as well, but perhaps next time! -

Ordered a sliced brisket sandwich combo. They charged me for a sliced brisket plate and would not allow me to change it since they already ran the card. The brisket itself is bland and does not taste like brisket I've had at most places i.e. Rudy's, Franklins, etc. Its almost like they cooked it in the oven or something. The potato salad was okay but the coleslaw was bland. Also, eating outside was hot and uncomfortable even with the fan. Plus the flies were annoying.

Came here looking for BBQ and left with full belly's and some seriously amazing food! Food was delicious and staff is so nice. We will definitely be stopping in every time we come to ATX now. And stopping by for breakfast tacos on our way back. Hole in the wall but food is absolutely amazing!
